Self-formation —

We form ourselves, from the inside out. We foster raw capabilities into our emerging capacities, repeating their use with creative variations, guided by our inner sense. Watch a child transform a squiggle, doing it again, this way and that. In such effort, we shape our capacities for perception, action, and self-direction. As we restructure these, our possible patterns of purpose, powers of attention, discrimination, energy, skill, affinity, and effort change, building up or contracting, as the case may be.
